Sponsor submits application
Your Dutch employer (recognized IND sponsor) files the residence permit application on your behalf via the IND portal.
Document submission
Upload required documents: valid passport, proof of employment, diploma assessment (if applicable), and sponsor declaration.
Biometrics appointment
After initial approval, attend an IND desk appointment to submit biometrics and collect your residence permit.
MVV entry visa (if required)
Non-EU nationals from MVV-required countries must apply for an entry visa at the Dutch embassy before traveling.
Collect residence permit
Your IND card (verblijfsvergunning) is issued for 1–5 years depending on visa type and is renewable.

Dutch citizen service number — required for banking, tax, and healthcare.
DigiD
Digital identity for government portals. Requires BSN first.
Bank Account
Most banks require BSN. Bunq and Revolut offer accounts without BSN.

Secure job offer, IND application submitted by sponsor, MVV visa (if required)
Day of Arrival
Enter the Netherlands with valid travel documents and residence permit or MVV

Register at gemeente (municipality), receive BSN appointment
Month 1
Receive BSN, apply for DigiD, open bank account, arrange health insurance
